Izidora Angel is a Bulgarian-born memoirist, essayist and literary translator based in Chicago. Her writing has appeared in A Public SpaceAstra Magazine, Best Literary Translations 2024, Chicago Reader, Electric Literature, Gulf Coast, and elsewhere. She’s been recognized by the National Endowment for the Arts, English PEN, ART OMI, the Elizabeth Kostova Foundation and Bread Loaf, among others. Her book-length translations are on the syllabuses at The University of Chicago, Oberlin, and Lake Forest College. Izidora’s translation of She Who Remains by Rene Karabash received a PEN/Heim Translation Fund Grant and the Gulf Coast Prize, and is forthcoming from Sandorf Passage and Peirene Press in early 2026.
